Smoke Detector Program
According to the National Fire Protection Association, properly installed and maintained smoke alarms play a vital role in reducing fire deaths and injuries.
MCESD #2 / Montgomery Fire Department partnered with the Montgomery County Fire Marshal's Office, the Montgomery County Hospital District, and other county fire departments to establish a regional fire safety inintiative called "Get Alarmed Montgomery County". Donations from across the county are used to fund 10-year smoke alarms for the program. Firefighters respond to requests from citizens and conduct neighborhood level campaigns to get the word out about fire safety and smoke alarms. Firefighters also install smoke alarms and conduct home fire safety surveys.
