Pink Campaign Program

"Together We Can Make A Difference"

2019 - 2020

MFD Pink Shirt Campaign Honoree Susan Cooper

Susan has been a special education teacher in Montgomery ISD for 13 years and considers teaching students with special learning needs her calling and not just her career. She loves teaching and has a steadfast commitment that all children can be successful learners with hard work, support, and encouragement. She has served as the Special Education Department Chair for her campus for the past 10 years and currently teaches 6th and 7th graders at Oak Hills Junior High School.

Montgomery has been her family’s home for the past 20 years and she feels blessed to be a part of this community and to have raised her two amazing kids here! Her husband works locally in real estate and building and both of their children graduated from Montgomery High School. Over the years they have been active in school, church and community events.  After finding a lump in her breast in August of 2018, she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Invasive Ductal Carcinoma in September. At the time it was diagnosed, it was Stage 2. She sought treatment at MD Anderson in The Woodlands and underwent chemotherapy, surgery, radiation and infusions. Her faith in God and the love and support of her family, friends, colleagues, and students empowered her to meet the challenges of fighting cancer. She is a breast cancer survivor!

Campaign rasied $6300, provided (2) $1600 Scholarships and a $3100 check to MD Anderson in Susan Cooper's name.

2018 - 2019

MFD Pink Shirt Campaign Honoree Dee Krusmark

Our Honoree this year is in Memory of Dee Krusmark.

Dee worked at MES as an instructional aide for 14 years. Dee had a huge heart for all kids but was especially drawn to those that received Special Education services. MES honored her in 2017, during the Pink Heals Tour by pinking out the school to show their support.  One month later, Dee, lost her fight with Metastatic Breast Cancer. This year, we are honoring Dee by selling our Pink Shirts with the proceeds going a MISD High School Scholarship and Montgomery Elementary School.

Campaign rasied $3800, provided (2) $1200 Scholarships and a $1400 check to MES whom purchased reading blocks in Dee's honor.

2017 - 2018

MFD Pink Shirt Campaign Honoree Mandy Romero

Our honoree this year, is Mandy Romero, who lives and works in the Montgomery area.  She is the wife of Dr. Joey Romero of the Animal Hospital of Montgomery and the mother to son, Breck.  She manages their newest facility, The Lodge Luxury Boarding Retreat.  In 2016, Mandy was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer.  She is currently undergoing treatment for this disease.  Mandy has been asked to be our Honoree, due to her graciously kind heart and giving soul.  While she continues to battle this fight, she is never short of helping out others in the community.  She has graciously decided to put others first, by turning the proceeds of the MFD Pink shirts in her honor, into a nursing scholarship for students of Montgomery High School.

Campaign rasied $6000, provided (3) $2000 Scholarships.
